This text. The reading text is the public-domain transcription of the 1907 Religious Tract Society edition prepared by David Price and published as Project Gutenberg eBook 395. Gutenberg states that the eBook is public domain in the United States. UECF.NET does not claim copyright in Bunyan’s original work or in that 1907 transcription.

Chapter divisions. Bunyan’s 1682 book is one continuous narrative after the verse prefaces. The nineteen numbered chapters used here follow the sectioning of Joy Chan’s LibriVox recording (the source the UECF.NET brief named). Those numbers and short subtitles are navigation aids; they are not original 1682 chapter titles.
What was omitted. Project Gutenberg’s license wrapper and catalog notes are omitted. The 1907 Religious Tract Society editor’s preface signed A. R. Buckland is a later introduction, not Bunyan’s text; it is not printed as part of the reading sequence. A few helps from later annotated school editions are likewise omitted. Victor Prout’s 1907 colour plates were not included in Gutenberg eBook 395 because the transcriber judged them still in copyright in the United Kingdom at the time of transcription; they are not used here.
What was corrected. Obvious Gutenberg heading damage such as “SHADDI” for Shaddai on the 1907 title block is restored where the original title is certain. Bunyan’s wording, spelling (including forms such as to-day and wofully), and paragraphing are otherwise left as in the 1907 transcription. The verse prefaces are presented as verse blocks for the screen; the words are not modernized.
Scripture. Bunyan wrote for readers of the Authorized (King James) Version. Explicit citations, and the Jonah text he names in Chapter XI, are linked to the UECF.NET NKJV Bible for convenient lookup. The on-page wording remains Bunyan’s.
