CHALLENGES
My central faith in eternal life is found in Jesus. The best man who ever lived went down through death and came back, and the first thing he said was, “Fear not”—there is nothing here to fear. He who was so right in everything else, the ages being witness, is he wrong here? He who never let us down in one single area of life, will he let us down in this central area? I believe it is impossible.
The Christian faith is the only faith that lights up that dark area of life—death. And it lights it up not with word, but with a Word made flesh. Jesus went through it, and the word of resurrection became flesh in him. Anyone who lives in him is as deathless as he is deathless.
Jesus lays his mind upon ours, and I believe in his beliefs, and he believed in and demonstrated immortality. Jesus said, “Because I live, you shall live also.” His living guarantees our living. He didn’t stay dead, I too shall not stay dead!
