Introduction

Andrew Alexander Bonar (1810–1892) was one of the quiet but powerful voices of the nineteenth–century Scottish church. Born in Edinburgh and raised in a deeply Christian home, Bonar devoted his life to preaching the gospel, shepherding God’s people, and calling men and women into a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

A close friend of the godly preacher Robert Murray M’Cheyne, Bonar stood in the midst of the revival movements that stirred Scotland during his lifetime. His ministry was marked by simple but profound preaching, deep prayer, and a passionate concern for the salvation of souls.

The guiding principle of his life came from Scripture:

**“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”

—Proverbs 11:30 (KJV)**

Andrew Bonar lived by these words. Through his sermons, writings, and faithful pastoral work, he continually pointed people to Christ.

This book explores the life and spiritual legacy of a humble pastor whose devotion to Jesus and passion for winning souls still speaks powerfully to believers today.
