About this book

The Ministry of Intercession: A Plea for More Prayer was written by Andrew Murray, the South African pastor and devotional author, and first published in 1897 as a sequel to his earlier book With Christ in the School of Prayer. Murray shows how, throughout Scripture, in the life of every saint, in the life of God's own Son, and all through Church history, God is first of all a prayer-hearing God — and he pleads for a Church renewed by a deeper, more disciplined ministry of intercession.

The book opens with Murray's own Introduction, moves through fifteen chapters tracing the causes of prayerlessness and the path to a praying life empowered by the Holy Spirit, and closes with six short supplementary Notes and Murray's own appendix, Pray Without Ceasing: Helps to Intercession — a month-long course of daily prayer subjects that he offered as a practical school of intercession. This UECF.NET web edition follows the public-domain 1897 text (Project Gutenberg edition of The Ministry of Intercession, eBook #29296), preserving its chapter order, titles, Scripture epigraphs, quotations, and wording; a small number of evident scanning/typesetting slips in secondary transcriptions were corrected against the sense of the text.
