Bro. Bob Nelson's Testimony

During my working career, we developed GLAD WRAP & BAGS, now owned by the CLOROX CO. When I retired, I spent the next four years going back and forth to Russia for our government and for several national food organizations, as a consultant. During the time above, and for twenty years, I lived half of each year in Venice, Florida where we attended a church and were on their missions committee. We voted to send our pastor on a short term mission trip to India, where this church had built two churches. He said he would go if two laymen would go with him. The primary purpose was to dedicate the two churches funded by the Venice church.

Right at that time, my wife joined the heavenly Church Triumphant. The church we were members of in Wheaton, Illinois had a memorial fund for her, and when I asked my children where we should contribute the funds, they said, "Dad, you're going to India to help dedicate a couple churches, why don't we build a church in memory of mom?" Enough money came in the memorial fund to build two churches. I went back down to Florida, made an announcement three weeks before our second annual missions conference that the pastor was going to India to dedicate the two churches they had funded, and wouldn't it be wonderful if we took and extra offering at the conference, to build one more church in India that the pastor could dedicate while he was there. Enough money came in to build three more churches! That allowed us to build a total of seven new churches when we got there!

By the time I got back home, I was so in love with the Indian people  I could not stop talking about them and the opportunities to share the Lord with so many. That was seventeen years ago. We formed a foundation and have been supporting several strong evangelical works there ever since. These works included four orphanages, two seminaries, the HIV/AIDS doctors you know very well, at NIREEKSHANA, (HOPE- in Telugu). We raised large sums of money for organizations we supported in the tsunami areas, for fire ravaged villages, monsoon flooded villages, etc. We also provided several large pieces of medical equipment for the AIDS clinic, and funds to expand their facilities.

We were involved in teaching courses at the seminaries, and furnishing books for seminary graduates. The Lord willing, I shall take my 23rd trip to India later this year, to dedicate two new churches and speak at several different places.
