*Opening Prayer(in unison): Merciful God, hear our prayers for healing and change. We give thanks for those times and places wherein You gave us the opportunity to be instruments of Your love, justice and compassion. But we confess that we have become comfortable with our past actions thus we have lost the art of knowing Your mind and seeking Your will. We are so used to need and stories of poverty that we have become immune while Your Word calls us to share, give and minister in Your Name, we have become so comfortable that our faith is defined by our conversations, our so called fellowship and business as usual. Lord we want to escape the fortress of our own contriving. We want to experience the joy of feeling empathy and compassion, we want to be led by the Word of God, we want to be informed and illuminated by the Spirit. We want to be out there in the midst of the poor, the needy and the ones who do not know You, by Your Spirit we want to declare that You are Lord. Please let our words and our lives tell that story. As we give You praise and surrender our self centeredness to Your authority, pour out Your Spirit upon us and make us Your own. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen!
