About this book
More Than a Carpenter: His Story Might Change Yours
Josh McDowell & Sean McDowell
More Than a Carpenter is a compact work of Christian apologetics that Josh McDowell wrote out of his own experience: as a university student setting out to disprove Christianity, his research into the historical evidence instead led him to faith. The book applies the well-known "liar, lunatic, or Lord" argument popularized by C. S. Lewis, walking through the reliability of the Gospel accounts, the claims Jesus made about himself, and the evidence offered for his resurrection. Decades after its first edition, the book was revised together with Josh's son, Sean McDowell, a professor of Christian apologetics at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, to speak to a new generation of readers. It remains one of the most widely read short introductions to the case for who Jesus is, and has been translated into dozens of languages since it was first published.
