This site was built from the source PDF NIV, Maxwell Leadership Bible, 3rd Edition (John C. Maxwell, Executive Editor; Thomas Nelson / Maxwell Motivation, Inc.). Before any part of this content is treated as freely reusable, it's important to understand exactly what is and isn't reproduced here, and why.

This site does not host the NIV Scripture text. The source PDF's own copyright page states that the NIV® text "may be quoted in any form … up to and inclusive of five hundred (500) verses… providing the verses quoted do not amount to a complete book of the Bible nor… account for twenty-five percent (25%) or more of the total text of the work in which they are quoted," and that "any commentary or other biblical reference work… that uses the NIV® text must obtain written permission." A complete, searchable, full-text online Bible is exactly what that limit is designed to require permission for. UECF.NET has not sought or obtained that separate license from Biblica / Zondervan / HarperCollins Christian Publishing, so this site does not reproduce the NIV chapter and verse text.

Instead, every chapter page on this site links out to the full NIV® chapter text at uecf.net/niv/. Reading the actual Bible text always happens there — this site never copies or reformats that text.

What this site does reproduce: the Maxwell Leadership Bible commentary

What UECF.NET built here is a navigable index and reader for this edition's original leadership commentary — the Leadership Laws, Leadership Qualities, Leadership Issues, Leadership Insights, and Profiles in Leadership essays that John Maxwell and his editorial team wrote to accompany the NIV text, each tied to its Scripture reference. That commentary is copyrighted separately from the NIV translation:

This site reproduces roughly 900 individual commentary entries drawn from the source PDF. That is a substantial amount of the publisher's original commentary text. UECF.NET has not obtained separate written permission from Thomas Nelson / Maxwell Motivation, Inc. to republish this commentary online, and should do so — or scope this site down to shorter excerpts and original summaries — before treating this as a permanent, public part of uecf.net. Nothing on this site should be read as UECF.NET claiming authorship or ownership of either the NIV translation or the Maxwell Leadership Bible commentary; both remain the property of their respective copyright holders, credited above and in this site's footer on every page.

Extraction notes & known limitations

The commentary text was extracted automatically from the source PDF's text layer (John Maxwell's leadership essays are consolidated at the end of each Bible book in the source file, each tagged with its Scripture reference) and matched to chapters using the standard, public-domain 66-book chapter structure of the Protestant Bible — that structure is not copyrighted text, only a well-known organizational fact. Of roughly 910 commentary entries in the source, 907 (99.7%) were recovered and placed on the correct chapter. Three short entries built as a graphical comparison chart in the original layout (an "EDGE vs. SCOREBOARD" table and two similar callouts) could not be cleanly extracted as text and are omitted rather than guessed at. A small number of entry titles may carry minor extraction artifacts (an extra word glued on from the adjoining Scripture text) given the complexity of the source layout; the essay bodies themselves were verified for completeness against the source.

Data structure

Each chapter's leadership notes live in their own small JSON file under data/chapters/<book>/<chapter>.json, so once permission is confirmed (or the commentary is replaced with newly-written original notes), updating content is a data change, not a rebuild.
