About this edition
This web edition was built from The Lucado Life Lessons Study Bible, New King James Version, Max Lucado, General Editor, published by Thomas Nelson, Inc. It presents the NKJV Scripture text together with this edition’s Life Lessons boxes (Situation, Observation, Inspiration, Application, and Exploration) and book-opening features.
What is and isn’t public domain here
Nothing on this site is public domain. This edition combines:
- The New King James Version Bible text — © 1982 by Thomas Nelson, Inc., all rights reserved;
- Life Lessons boxes, book-opening features, and other editorial apparatus from The Lucado Life Lessons Study Bible — © 2010 Thomas Nelson, Inc.;
- This site’s own original page layout, typesetting, and presentation.
The source PDF’s copyright page states that the NKJV text may be quoted without prior written permission only up to and including 1,000 verses, provided the verses quoted amount to less than 50% of a complete book of the Bible and make up less than 50% of the work in which they are quoted. A full, searchable reproduction of the entire Bible — as this site is — exceeds those limits. The Life Lessons editorial content has no quotation grant at all.
Why this matters for this site
This web edition was built as a working, searchable study Bible site from the source PDF supplied for this project. Before this site (or any part of its Scripture text or Life Lessons notes) is published on the live, public uecf.net domain, UECF.NET must either:
- obtain explicit written permission from Thomas Nelson Publishers / HarperCollins Christian Publishing (Bible Rights and Permissions, P.O. Box 141000, Nashville, TN 37214-1000) to republish this NKJV edition’s text and study notes online, or
- keep the site private (for example password-protected) until a licensing decision is made.
The site’s data files are structured so that a licensing change can happen without touching the reader: Scripture, Life Lessons, and book introductions live in JSON under data/. See COPYRIGHT_ASSESSMENT.md, delivered alongside this site, for the full assessment.
How to use this reader
- Choose a book and chapter from the toolbar or the sidebar list.
- Search Scripture and Life Lessons with the search button, or press Ctrl/⌘+K or /.
- Click a verse number to copy the verse or copy a link to it.
- Life Lessons boxes appear in the right-hand panel and at the start of each box’s reading range.
- On a phone, use the bottom tabs for Books, Life Lessons, and More.
Extraction accuracy
This site’s text was extracted automatically from the source PDF’s character-level layout data (font, size, and position), then validated against a standard NKJV chapter/verse table. All 66 books and 1,189 chapters are present. A residual fraction of chapters (concentrated in densely poetic books such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Job) may have a verse split in the wrong place. A full account is in the project’s VALIDATION_REPORT.md.
